Nine Nasty Online Scams You Need to Be Aware Of
It is sad but true: some people will just do anything except work, to help rid you of your hard earned money.
I suggest you read this article on Fox News and know upfront what to expect when you receive one or more of those e-mails. I will even add a few to the list; those are the ones which I constantly find in my inbox:
- You are the winner of a lottery.
- You are contacted by a widow, notary, lawyer or anyone else claiming to be related to a deceased person who left you a huge amount of money.
- Pitiful e-mails describing heart breaking living conditions and begging for money.
- PayPal e-mails to inform you of unauthorized attempts to access your account, or mails requesting you to update your account info.
- Bank e-mails with the same content as the above.
In case of doubt, call your bank or access your accounts from the appropriate sites, but don't click the links in the mails. As soon as people ask for money upfront, you can safely assume you are being scammed.
Forewarned is forearmed!
