Mount Hood - Activities and Accommodations

There are more than 1,200 miles of hiking trails and the Timberline Trail is one of the most popular. Besides climbing and hiking, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, hunting, rafting, golf, horseback riding, mountain biking and snowmobiling are other popular sports practiced on Mount Hood.

Lodges and camping sites are all around as well as several dining and shopping facilities. Around this time of year there are many events you can attend like snow shoe tours, kids camps and Christmas festivities to name a few.

Before driving off to the trails, you may want to acquire trailhead passes. Those are only $5 for the Northwest Forest Pass per day and $30 for an annual pass. The passes can be obtained through the Forest Service Offices and/or several vendors in and around the Mount Hood and Portland area.

It is a wonderful environment and definitely worth a visit all year around. In case you like to make this your destination for fall and winter, then I would recommend you keep up with the weather reports for the area.

Unless you are being snowed under of course.
