Mardi Gras New Orleans
Mardi Gras will be in full swing, beginning this weekend. Several parades have already taken place, but the best is yet to come. The best place to take part in the festivities and to experience the atmosphere is New Orleans. It is very easy to find a schedule online on what parade, where it will be held and what route it will take. In case you like to attend the parades, it would be wise to find parking spaces or make inquiries about local transportation before you go. It will save you a lot of unnecessary wasted time upon your arrival.
Make sure to bring some bags to put all the 'goodies' in that are thrown during the parades. Just be careful; those beads and other goodies can turn in to dangerous projectiles. They are thrown in abundance and without any caution and can cause some serious pain when being hit in the face.
You get a great view from a height and a balcony is an excellent spot. Ladders are being used to create the same effect and you can even 'rent' some time on someone's equipment to enjoy the parade.
Don't miss out sampling some of the traditional foods. Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday in English and originated out of endulging in eating before the days of fasting (Lent) started.
One more thing you need to bring: a jolly mood! If you forget that then you are out of place!

Mobile, Alabama is the best place to be for Mardi Gras. It is the birthplace of the celebration and is still the best place to take part in the festivities. The food in Mobile is second to none.
