Shepard State Park Mississippi

We took a drive over to Mississippi yesterday and landed at Shepard State Park in Gautier. It is a cute, well maintained park with sites for both primitive camping and RVs.

Shepard State Park is located in the heart of the area of the Pascagoula River, also referred to as the Singing River. It offers several hiking trails, disc golf courses, playgrounds for the little ones and if you possess a boat, there is a ramp from which you can launch it.

There is plenty of water around and many camp sites are located very close to it. The prices are very reasonable: $3 for a day pass per vehicle, camping fees range from $11 to $16 depending on which site you choose. If you are planning a stay then it is best to make reservations. That can be done online or by phone.

Grills, covered areas and picnic tables are all around. The park offers some very pretty scenery and lends itself well for even just a day out and a barbecue. It is well worth a visit!
