Sunset Cliffs, San Diego, California
Just imagine walking, biking, or jogging along the Sunset Cliffs of San Diego, California, with bluffs that drop sheer into the Pacific Ocean. When surfing or cruising along the coastline, you can admire these majestic, sandstone cliffs in all their glory, but for how long?
Yes, these 68 acres of cliffs are in danger of disappearing. Due to runoff from development and irrigation, they are slowly but surely being eaten away. It would be sad if they vanished entirely and watching stunning sunsets, the immigrating whales, and birds would be out of the question.
There are several beaches below which are excellent for surfing and sunbathing, or watching the natural beauty and unique shapes of the bluffs and caves formed by the waves of the ocean. The cliffs provide a home to many sea-creatures and other sea life and are a great place to spend some time and relax.
Swimming is not a good option, because the surf is rather unpredictable and dangerous and there are no life-guards on duty.
Several accidents have already happened in the past and you would do wisely to heed the warning signs, don't attempt climbing the cliffs, and pay close attention to every step you take.
Where to stay and what all there is to do in the near vicinity of the Sunset Cliffs will soon follow!
