Spadena Witch House, Beverly Hills, California

This fairy tale-like abode can be found in Beverly Hills, California, and was the creation of the imagination of its designer Henry Oliver, who had it built in 1921 as an office for a film production company. Apparently, the house was moved to its current location in 1934.

The house, which sits on the corner of Walden Drive and Carmelita, goes by several names; The Spadena House comes from the last name of the first residents, The Witch's House due to its intentionally, run down and supposedly unkept appearance, and The Hansel and Gretel house which is quite obvious when you see it.

This peculiar house saw some in and outside renovations over the years and the moat which was initially part of it, was filled in and converted it into a garden. It came up for sale in 1997, but due to the bad state it was in, it found no takers.

The real estate agent decided to buy, preserve, and renovate it and now, more then ten years later, the finished and restored home with its equally bizarre designed front yard proudly draws the attention of many.

It has and still appears in movies and event though it is not open to the public, it is certainly worthy of your time and admiration. BTW, don't forget to bring the children!
