Mojave Desert, United States, Part 2

Besides its gorgeous and stunning beauty, the Mojave Desert in the U.S. offers tourists a whole lot more to enjoy.

There are several national parks, protected areas, lakes, the Hoover Dam, the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, the world's tallest thermometer, the Kelso Dunes, ghost towns, archeological sites and finds, and plenty of museums.

There certainly is no lack of activities. The list of things to do include balloon flights, biking, hiking, boating, fishing, kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, white water rafting, bird watching, golfing, horseback riding, ATV-ing, rock climbing, skiing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

If you rather have someone else take care of your entertainment then you can inquire with tour companies about excursions or go on one of the organized adventure trips. After a long day of being out and about you can find some rest and relaxation at one of the available spas.

Keep in mind, especially when taking a drive, to ensure your car is in good working condition and bring extra gas and plenty of water along. The last is recommended for almost anything you do. The desert is not a place you want to be stranded in; water is sparse and help may not be anywhere near. Bring protective apparel and most importantly; let someone know when and where you are going.

You don't want to be lost and not found!
