Sunnylands, Rancho Mirage, California Part 2

For those of you who are interested in taking a tour of Sunnylands, Rancho Mirage in California, you need to keep a few things in mind: tours are only held when there are no retreats, children under the age of 10 and pets are not allowed and it is advisable to make reservation well in advance.

There are only guided tours available which are limited to seven persons per tour. The tours are held from Thursdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the months of September through May and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. during June. In July there are only tours in the morning, starting at 7:30 a.m. and the estate is closed in August.

The tour lasts for 90 minutes and tickets cost $35 per person and no student or senior discount is available. The tickets can only be obtained online on the 1st and 15th of each month. You have to make reservations at least two weeks in advance and ensure you are able to attend the tour, because sales are final and will not be refunded or exchanged.

If you use a wheel chair then make that known upon reservations and should you rather attend a group tour; those are held on Wednesdays and are $45 per person. Reservations for the 2012-13 season start in August 2012 and tour schedules and reservation policies will be announced soon.

You would do wise to bring your own water (other drinks are not allowed), a hat, umbrella, sunscreen, and anything else you may need on the tour. There is Wi-Fi available throughout the estate.

Cell phones however have to be silenced during tours, smoking, taking pictures in the house, video and sound recording equipment are not allowed. Large purses, backpacks and/or bags are not permitted either, but there are lockers available for storage.

You are expected to adhere to all these requirements and what all you can expect will be shared in the next post!
