Things To Do At And Around Loch Ness

You are by no means restricted to sit beside Loch Ness or to cruise the waters in the hopes of catching a glimpse of its monster. There are plenty of other activities you can undertake on and around Loch Ness.

Attend a boat trip or tour the Loch and see Cherry Island which is located at the southwestern end near Fort Augustus and came into existence during the Iron Age. You can also admire it while fishing the Loch for salmon, trout, char, eel, pike, or many other fish species.

You also have the option to go sailing, canoeing, or to discover the beauty of the vicinity by walking or hiking the countryside. Some walks are easy and suitable for the entire family, while others present a challenge and will appeal to the more experienced hikers.

There is also the possibility to go mountain biking, wind surfing, paragliding, skiing, and golfing. If neither one is your cup of tea then don't worry; you will find many art galleries, studios, and craft workshops around Loch Ness.

Should none of those tickle your fancy either then you always have the option to visit the galore of shops and restaurants at Inverness, or see one of the many other villages in the area.

On the other hand, it may not be such a bad idea to sit down beside Loch Ness and be awed by its incredible views. Besides, you never know what may rise to the surface!
