Spending Time At Lake Ontario, New York

In case you are still wondering where to go this summer, Lake Ontario would be a great option.

You can expect to find some nice parks in and around New York, but you sure wouldn't expect to find the area around Lake Ontario to be so rich in history, offering gorgeous views, and bursting with activities.

Hiking trails, yacht clubs, lakefront parks, and beaches, are readily available. Canoeing, backpacking, swimming, birding and observing other wildlife, fishing, windsurfing, surfing, kayaking, sailing are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to outdoor activities.

Boats and Jet Skis are for rent, but you can always attend one of the many cruises or charter tours. Why not make a day out of visiting the many lighthouses located around this lake? When you gravitate more towards cultural entertainment then rest assured; there is no lack of museums, art galleries, and festivals.

A good hiking trip would be the Snakefoot trail which offers incredible views and a great diversity in scenery. If you don't want to or can't hike, drive the 454 mile long New York State Seaway Trail. This scenic route takes you along Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, and will provide you with some stunning and surprising treasures.

It is nice being able to escape the hustle and bustle from the city and breaking away from the rut of daily life for a while. What is even nicer is finding that escape so close to home!
