A Trip From San Diego To Boulevard, California

Another nice daytrip would be driving down Highway 94 and in particular that part which takes you from San Diego to Boulevard in California or visa versa.

You may not have expected this, but when you leave the hustle and bustle of San Diego and go about ten miles to the east, you will be pleasantly surprised; you will find yourself surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and a totally different but soothing atmosphere.

Beautiful, lush valleys, small towns which seem to be stuck in times long passed, abundant plant and animal life, and rough, rocky summits will enfold before your eyes and instill the urge to stop and admire the scenery.

Campo is a good destination to take a break and indulge in the rich history of this area. Besides many orchards, vineyards and historical buildings, you will also find the Motor Transport Museum here and don't be astonished when you come across a ghost-town or two.

The museum is normally open only on Saturdays, but the curators have no problem whatsoever opening up the gates at any time. You may want to give them a call before you get there in which case they are more then happy to oblige.

Even though this is a rather short route, only 54 miles or so, you may want to reserve enough time to see all it has to offer. You would do well to bring enough food and soft drinks, because you will not find any restaurants along the way.

In case you forget, don't worry; there are some local grocery stores where you can get what you need. One thing you definitely should keep in mind is bringing your camera. You will need it, so don't leave home without it!
