Daily Living: More Cheap And Easy Camping Tips

You may not always be able to find a camping site where showers, toilets, and laundry facilities are available. That is not so bad if your trip lasts for just a couple of days, but when you like to go for a longer period of time, hygiene comes in play.

There are a few things you can do about the latter. You can designate an empty laundry detergent dispenser as a hand-washing station by filling it with water. Pack some micro fiber towels since those are light, easy to store, and very absorbent.

If you slice a bar of soap with a vegetable peeler, you end up with thin pieces of soap which are great for one-time-use. Did you know that rubbing some soap on mosquito bites diminishes the itch? You do now. :-)

In my previous posts I talked about cutting up straws, filling them with a single dose of ointment, medication, etcetera, sealing the ends with a lighter, and sticking them in your first aid kit. Here is another use for those straws: fill them with one dose of tooth-paste.

Dirty clothes get squeaky clean by using a dark garbage bag with hot water and detergent. Put the apparel in it, push out as much air as you can and close it. Shake it up regularly and let it sit for a while, preferable in a sunny spot.

All the above make camping a little easier and more comfortable. They don't take care of the call of nature, but I will get around to that soon. Yes, there is a camping app for that too!
