Insects: Cheap And Easy Camping Tips

It is always nice being in the outdoors and enjoying nature, isn't it? No, it isn't. Those pesky mosquitoes sure know how to take the joy out of your camping trip and deprive you of your sleep.

That hiking trip you are looking forward to can turn out to be nothing but a collision course with poisoned ivy, and if that isn't enough yet, the ticks may crash the party by feasting on you.

Don't let that stop you though. There are some simple measures and tricks to prevent any of the above. Right of the bat: learn how to recognize poisonous plants in order to avoid them.

Bring tick and mosquito repellent, or bundles of sage. Adding the latter to your campfire will keep the mosquitoes at bay.

You can not always prevent everything. Accidents are likely to happen and it is always wise to keep a first-aid kit around.

Old prescription bottles or small tin cans are ideal for packing a mini first-aid kit and carrying with you.

Those tiny Tabasco bottles are excellent for holding rubbing alcohol or iodine. Even though they are made out of glass, they are extremely durable.

I came across another great tip: cut up a straw, fill the pieces with antibiotic ointment, and seal up the ends with a lighter. This too works great for making single-use, water-resistant packets of pain relievers, antibiotics, and more.

Camping ought to be fun. Let's keep it that way and with these tips we can!
