Itinerary Of The Son Doong Cave Tour

The following gives you a good impression of what to expect when you book a tour to the Song Doong Cave in Vietnam.

The first day of your arrival in Phong Nha, you can expect being briefed about all the safety and preparation aspects involving and evolving around the upcoming tour.

After spending the night in a local hotel, you will depart for the drop-off location the next day. This can be found around 22 miles in the Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park, after which you will hike about 4 miles through the river valley and set up camp in the Hang En cave.

You will have to get up early the next morning and travel through the Hang En cave. Once reaching the exit, you will be guided through the jungle to the Son Doong cave and descend 88 yards into its first passage. You will then cross its underground river until you reach the main tunnel to a rock formation called the 'Hand of Dog', where you will spend the night.

The fourth day of your journey will be an even more incredible experience. You will encounter spectacular views of large boulders, steep cliffs, and the underground jungle, including its unique wildlife. Don't worry; you will have plenty of time to soak in the scenery, since your camp will be set up near the jungle.

After a good night sleep you will travel deeper into the cave and may have to get in a boat to complete this section. You will then return to the first campsite and visit the latest discovered passage with fossils over 3 billion years old.

You will be heading back on the sixth day to the Hang En cave to spend one more night here. Then it is trekking back to your Phong Nha hotel where a celebration party awaits you. The next morning it is back to the real world.

In other words; your awesome adventure has come to an end!
