Safety First

Whether you stayed at home or decided to hit the road to celebrate it either with family and friends, or in a different area, I sure hope all of you had a wonderful, safe, and very merry Christmas.

There are still lots of opportunities to admire the many Christmas light displays, but my suspicion is that the thoughts of fireworks are slowly but surely beginning to dominate and take up the majority of your time.

You may have plans to ring in the New Year by lighting up the sky with some fireworks of your own. Just remember to be careful.

It doesn't matter if you have just a few fire-crackers or an elaborate stash of intricate illuminations to detonate; an accident is always right around the corner and yes, it can happen to you too.

In case you don't want to take that risk, or just don't have or are willing to spend the money, there are always fireworks shows nearby. Check your city or town's events calendar and you will probably find several locations where you can be the spectator of someone else's handiwork and labor of love.

Even in those cases it is good to keep your distance. You sure don't want to start off the year in the emergency room. Safety always comes first!
