A very Happy New Year to all of you!

Since this is an entirely new year, we don't have a clue yet what it has got in store for us. You may not even have thought about where you want to spend your summer vacation, because that is still so many months away. You may want to get an idea though, because time flies and it will be here sooner then you think.

I have said it before and I will say it again: the world is your oyster. The adventurous types among us may decide to visit less touristic places or opt for an active vacation. Others may already be happy basking in the sun on a popular beach and/or taking a relaxing stroll through a famous town or city.

It actually doesn't really matter whether you go 5 or 5,000 miles away from your home; every area has got its own treasures to find, things to do, and sights to see. I will try to point out some of the more publicly unknown places this year and, if possible, all across the US.

There are so many discoveries to be made which are very close to home and that has many advantages. You are not struggling with a foreign language, don't have to exchange money, and it is often a lot cheaper.

You will feel right at home!
