Find Your Island

You can always spend some time or take a day trip to one of the many islands of our nation. It really shouldn't be too difficult to find one in your vicinity, seeing how the United States includes over 18,000 coastal and inland islands.

Don't think that if you have seen one island you have seen them all. Each one has different things to offer.

Some may be famous for their wonderful wildlife, scenery, or beaches, while others offer an array of historical and/or architectural structures.

There is also quite a difference in life style and the best way to experience daily, local life is by taking part in the variety of activities, events, and attractions. You can get a good taste of it by trying out some of the local specialties served in their restaurants.

Even when you have taken up residency in one of the big cities you may be closer to the tranquility and serenity of an island then you think. It doesn't take long to get to Angel Island from San Francisco or Belle Island from Detroit.

New Yorkers can relax on Governors Island and in the south Tybee and Dauphin Island are close by, not to mention all the islands of Key West.

With such a wide selection, there is bound to be an island near you. You may not be familiar with it, but when you do a search on the web you will soon!
